The new National Occupational Standards for Management and Leadership are on their way The new Management and Leadership Standards have been published and are available from the Management Standards Centre. These standards describe the level of performance expected in employment for a range of management and leadership functions/activities. As one of the MAIN providers in Scotland, David Brown Training will be at the forefront delivering these new qualifications. The existing Management SVQs will close on 31st October 2005 and the new SVQs, (based on these new Standards) will be in place on 1st November 2005. The new standards are designed to develop and enhance Management and Leadership skills and ensure that managers
- have the personal resources required to undertake their work
- are able to provide direction and leadership
- manage change and foster innovation
- manage their people and resources effectively
- effectively deliver the business outcomes expected by their customers
The standards now include behaviours that underpin effective performance. This is in recognition of feedback from employers that the soft skills which managers bring to their role are as important as the hard technical skills they possess.
